We’re extending our Spring deadline to Thursday, March 8th, right before Spring Break. Get your submissions in soon! Hooray!
Congratulations are due to our own Poetry Editor, Samantha Frank, as well as Spring 2011 contributors Martin Swift and Marielle Saums! All three have had their work from the Spring 2011 selected for plain china, a journal that combs undergraduate literary journals from all over the country in search of the very best undergraduate writing and art.
Sam’s poem Red Sky was selected after winning first place in our Spring journal. Martin’s art work appeared as our cover and Marielle’s Closed Circuit System appeared in the art insert.
The journal will launch in Spring 2012. We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy!
The Oakland Review is hosting an Open Mic night this Thursday at the Frame at 7pm.
$5 per person to enter. Food and drink will be served!
We’re looking for musicians to play and writers to read!
We’re making great progress on our Fall 2011 Alumni issue. We’ve had a huge number of submissions compared to last year and the whole staff is working hard to get all the reading done. We’re going to have to make some tough choices about what makes it into the journal. So far we’ve done prose and are finishing up poetry. Art next week, then layout and proofreading, then off to the presses before Thanksgiving!
Welcome to the new Oakland Review website! As you can tell, it is still a work in progress, so please bear with us!
